Charleston RiverDogs | MiLB

Pattern featuring elements of Riverdogs baseball team, including a tiger mascot, baseball pitcher, baseball stadium, baseballs, palm trees, bicycles, historic buildings, fountains, and street signs with city names.

As part of a fan promotional initiative, I designed a fully custom Hawaiian shirt to be given away to 1,000+ fans on Margaritaville Night. Every element of the pattern was hand-drawn, incorporating RiverDogs branding, baseball details, and Charleston-specific icons. The project spanned a week of concepting, illustration, and layout refinement to create a pattern suitable for a large giveaway.

The result was one of the most popular promotions of the season, with fans lining up hours before gates opened to secure their chance at the giveaway. The shirt became a lasting piece of the 2025 season and a strong example of how thoughtful design can elevate the fan experience.

For the 2025 season, the RiverDogs’ creative direction embraced a gritty, rock-and-roll aesthetic as part of the team’s “Comeback Season” branding. To align with this theme, I reimagined the long-running “Homestand Highlights” series and rebranded it as Homestand Hits.

This weekly home-game campaign featured an 8-slide carousel for social media: a bold title slide, a “comeback” food item from previous seasons, and individual slides previewing each game of the homestand. Using grunge-inspired typography, textures, and design elements, the series provided clear promotional information for the game-week ahead.

For the 2025 season, I created a rock-and-roll themed twist on our classic “Charlie C” logo. Using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator, I swapped out his signature baseball bat for a broken guitar to give the brand a grunge, rock-and-roll inspired identity. The look tied directly into our Opening Day concert and set the tone for a true “Revenge Tour” after coming up short the year before.

In the spring of 2025, MiLB and MLB introduced an AI chatbot across all team websites, each styled after its mascot. To bring this feature to life for the RiverDogs, I created a custom illustration of Charlie, redrawn by hand in Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool from an in-game photo. The final design gives fans a friendly, approachable version of Charlie to guide them through the site and answer questions in a way that feels on-brand.
